LIMA CITY
More than 400 years ago, the Spanish conqueror ("conquistador") Francisco Pizarro named Lima the City of the Kings ("Ciudad de los Reyes"). Nowadays, that same city, which rose from the lands of the ative chief Taulischusco, is a metropolis of over 7 million people who proudly preserve the colonial convents and mansions which are symbols of their ancient and noble traditions.
Lima, capital of Peru, founded on January 18, 1535, is a modern city which, while constantly expanding, has also managed to maintain the elegance of its Historic Center . Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Center, due to the large number of artistic monuments found there, Historic Lima is an enchanting haven of a period long gone.
Lima's Cathedral, which City Fathers began building on the very day of the city's foundation; the Church and Convent of San Francisco , due to its harmony of volume and color, considered by some as the greatest architectural complex of its kind in Latin America, and Santo Domingo, with its beautiful main cloister, are but a few of the invaluable treasures which provide evidence of Lima's deep religious faith.

Nazca LINES A Mystical Trip to the Skin of the Earth
The city of Ica is located in the south coast of the Peruvian littoral, with a warm and dry climate throughout the year and mid temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius. It is one of great late history, it's first inhabitants date back to 10 000 years old. This zone develops divers cultures like the Paracas, Nazca and Tiahuanaco that pertains to the coast. Nevertheless, the center of the tourist activity in the region resides in Nazca which is well-known at worldwide level by its ceramic art where the colors and representation stand out. The same as the famous lines and figures in Nazca whose layout is unexplainable until nowadays. In this mystical place, this is how we found the city of Nazca located in the basin of Grande river with an extension of 48.828 square kilometers. Some are ventured into saying that the Nazca lines are a message etched by extraterrestrials so when the moment of maturing as inhabitants of this planet arrives we will be able to make out the meaning of them, others think that it is a stellar map, a calendar for sowing and harvest planning times, other sacred furrows where Indians walked on the drawings and lines as secret rituals that still exist.

Chachapoyas Land of the "Cloud People"
Chachapoyas, capital of the department of Amazonas, is one of Peru's oldest cities. It was founded in 1538, by Alonso de Alvarado and still maintains a majestic Spanish influence due in a large part because of its isolation from tourism. At an altitude of 2335 meters, Chachapoyas is a prosperous city with sugar cane and coffee, orchids and tile-roofed buildings.
The Chachapoyas People excelled as an isolated agricultural society from 800 AD until their conquest by the Incas in the 1470's. The origin of the name Chachapoyas was possibly a variation of Sacha Poya, which means "Cloud People" in Quechua, the language of the Incas. In a possible effort to maximize the utilization of cultivatable lands, the Chachapoyas built their cities, monuments, and massive stone fortresses on the summits of mountains. Chachapoyas
In concurance with the conquest of the Chachapoyas by the Incas, European diseases ravaged the native population. By the end of the 1500's the Chachapoyas Peoples were gone. Their lands, culture, cities, and fortresses once one of South America's most populative and progress civilizations, disappeared into the mountain mists. Only in the last 20 years has the grandeur of the Chachapoyas People begun to come to light with the archaeological excavation of Kuelap.

the Gocta Waterfall in the Amazon
The Catarata del Gocta or the Gocta Waterfall is a waterfall with two drops. It has been known for centuries to the local residents in Peru's province of Chachapoyas in Amazonas. The Gocta Waterfall is one of the exciting finds for waterfall enthusiasts. This debunks our belief that the world had been mapped but in reality there are still little known and even unknown spots that obviously harbor such lovely places.
Located at approximately 700 kilometers to the north-east of Lima, the waterfall was made public following an expedition in 2005 by German Stefan Ziemendorff with a group of Peruvian explorers. Upon his discovery, he was able to successfully persuade the Peruvian government to map the falls and to measure their height.
The waterfall, seen from kilometers away in the heart of the Chachapoyas region, has been christened Gocta Falls, after the name of the nearest settlement. On 11 March 2006, Ziemendorff held a press conference. He stated that the total height was accurately measured at 771 meters (2,532 feet). Based from the National Geographic Society, Gocta ranked as the third tallest free-leaping waterfall in world after Angel Falls in Venezuela and Tugela Falls in South Africa. Some authorities dispute the height measurement of Gocta precisely because it is a tiered waterfall and is technically considered two separate waterfalls making Gocta the 14th tallest waterfall in the world.

PUNO & LAKE TITIKAKA
Puno is the capital and largest city of the Puno Region and Province in Southeastern Peru. It is located at the edge of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest commercially navigable lake, at 3,860 m (12,421 ft) above sea level, on the Peruvian Altiplano. Like most of northern Peru, the territory of Puno's importance to the vast Inca empire was reflected in a legendary connection. Inca tradition has it that Manco Capac, the first Inca, rose from the waters of Lake Titicaca, under the orders of the Sun God, to start the Inca Empire, which would be centered in the neighboring region and city of Cuzco. In 1668, viceroy Conde de Lemos established San Juan Bautista de Puno as the capital of the province of Paucarcolla. Later, it was called San Carlos de Puno, in honor of the ruling king, Charles II of Spain. From that moment, the town began to change physically, as the Spanish priests, in their eagerness to evangelize the natives, built the churches which still stand today.
Culture & Folklore
Puno has been named the "Capital folklórica del Perú" (folkloric capital of Peru) from the wealth of its artistic and cultural expressions, particularly dance.
They are most notable during the celebrations of the Feast of the "Virgen de la Candelaria" and the Regional Competition of Autochthonous Dances.

Cuzco, the archaeological capital of America It was the main city of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire, and was considered as the "World's Navel" by the Incas. It is now the first cultural center of Peru and has been proclaimed as "Humankind's Cultural Heritage" by UNESCO.
In Cuzco, all landscapes are full of beauty because it encloses all the Peru's legendary history from its foundation to the Spanish conquerors' retirement. Around the city, there are important archaeological monuments like the Sacsayhuaman's Fortress, Kenko, Tambomachay's Baths and Pisac's terraces, Ollantaytambo's Fortress and incomparable constructions of Machu Picchu in the margin of the Urubamba river which was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911 known now as "the Capital of America" or "Eternal City".
The large amount of museums and churches have become Cuzco in the most important tourist center of Peru. The "Inca's Roads", used by old peruvians to get to Machu Picchu, offers the possibility of finding numerous Inca edifications which, when mixed with nature, provide an integral view of the magnificence and importance achieved by Machu Picchu.
